Current activity
In addition to her work at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich (MKZ), the Musikschule Kilchberg-Rüschlikon and her role as a juror at Swiss youth music competitions, Heike Schäfer regularly devotes herself to her passion of making music on stage.
She performs with the Appenzell string band Geschwister Küng, an ensemble that interprets the musical heritage of its homeland in an innovative way.
As a duo with pianist Stefan Kägi, she also delights audiences with a varied repertoire for double bass and piano.

Career
Heike Schäfer studied at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK), the Freiburg University of Music and the Eastman School of Music (New York). She has performed at the Verbier Festival and the Zermatt Music Festival and has shared the stage with numerous orchestras. She has performed with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Nationaltheater Mannheim, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie and the Bundesjugendorchester, among others.
Awards
The recognition of her musical work is also reflected in the several prizes and scholarships she has received. Among other awards, she received a 1st national prize at "Jugend musiziert" and was a scholarship holder of the German Foundation for Musical Life, the Villa Musica and the Federal Ministry of Education and Research of the Federal Republic of Germany.
